Keto Treats

Keto treats

We’ve all been there, fallen off the wagon and given into some of form of sugar-filled snack and who doesn’t love a treat? But there is a solution to those cravings and occasional treats.

Just because something doesn’t contain tons of sugar doesn’t make it any less of a mouth-watering treat.

Cakes and Bakes.

A healthy cake? It is certainly true, baking does not stop when on keto. In fact experimenting with different keto friendly ingredients can create a baked masterpiece.

  1. Flour alternatives: When baking its without doubt you need some sort of base, flour. Ketogenic diets strictly forbids rice flour, corn four, all purpose flour and all high carb flours as 1 cup can equate to nearly 100g of carbs.

  • ¼ cup of Almond Flour contains 12g Fat and 2g Carbs
  • ¼ cup of Coconut Flour contains 2.5g of fat and 7g carbs

  1. Sweetener: It is almost impossible to make a treat without some sort of sweet taste. Although sweetener is best avoided its almost impossible when creating a keto treat.

You need to be very careful with sweeteners as they can have an adverse affect and be just as bad as digesting sugar. For a good tasty keto treat Xylitol and Stevia are a perfect accompaniment to your bakes.

In addition to sweetener, or in replace of it, don’t be afraid to use fruit! There is a limited amount of keto approved fruit but don’t be afraid to throw in some berries.
